Tuesday, 15 November 2011

Opposition BNP on Monday threatened to go for a tough movement after its November 15-16 demonstrations if the government does not withdraw its decision on fuel oil price hike, reports UNB. BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said BNP standing committee meeting held on Sunday night decided to stage demonstrations in district towns on November 15 and in divisional headquarters on November 16 to protest the rise in fuel oil prices. "We'll go for a harsh movement if the government doesn't withdraw its decision,'' Mirza Fakhrul told a press briefing at the BNP central office. He said although the prices of fuel oil have decreased in the international market, the government has hiked the prices thrice in the past six months. He said the BNP standing committee apprehends that the fuel price hike will raise the cost of everything, including transportation.
