BNP to field six new faces in Chittagong

BNP finalised nominations for 16 constituencies in Chittagong, including six new faces, 'ending tussles' among the party aspirants in the port city, party leaders said Thursday, reports bdnews24.com.
Chittagong-14 has been left to Jamaat-e-Islami, they added.
Chittagong city BNP stalwarts and former ministers Abdullah Al-Noman and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury told the news agency that Noman would get the party ticket to run from Chittagong -9 (Double Mooring) instead of his previous seat of Chittagong-8 (Kotwali), and Chowdhury from Chittagong-10 also different from his previous home constituency.
Ex-lawmaker Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury will get the ticket for Chittagong-6 (Rangunia) and Giyas Uddin Quader Chowdhury for Raojan, local leaders said.
New nominees are expected to include Clipton Group proprietor Kamal Uddin Chowdhury for Chittagong-1 (Mirsarai), controversial justice Faisal Mahmud Faraizi for Chittagong-2 (Fatikchhari), industrialist Aslam Chowdhury for Chittagong-3 (Sitakund), BGMEA leader Ershad Ullah for Chittagong-7 (Chandgaon-Boalkhali), Shamsul Alam for Chittagong-8 (Kotwali), Mizanul Haque Chowdhury for Chittagong-13 (Chand-anaish).
Candidates for other seats are expected to remain the same as in previous elections. They are Wahidul Alam for Chittagong-4 (Hathazari), Gazi Shahjahan Jewel for Chittagong-11 (Patiya), Sarwar Jamal Nizam Chittagong-12 (Anwara), Zafrul Islam Chowdhury Chittagong-15 (Banshkhali) and Mostafa Kamal Pasha Chittagong-16.
