Thursday, 31 July 2014
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said they would gradually gear up the movement for early holding of parliamentary elections. Briefing reporters at the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he said the government has been inviting conflict as it had earlier stated that the January 5 parliamentary polls had taken place for constitutional obligation and after the 10th parliamentary elections they would arrange another election. “But the government now says that there will be no further election and even no dialogue will take place over the polls,” said Fakhrul. Asked about the much-talked-about post-Eid movement of BNP, the acting secretary general said the party’s standing committee will hold a meeting to take the decision in this regard and then it will be made public, according to a news agency.
