BNP to hold long-march towards Teesta Barrage
Thursday, 10 April 2014
BNP will hold a long-march programme towards Teesta Barrage this month demanding Bangladesh’s fair sharing of Teesta water from India. The decision was taken at a BNP standing committee meeting held at party chairperson’s Gulshan office on Wednesday night with Khaleda Zia in the chair, UNB reported today. The meeting also decided that party chief Khaleda Zia will visit some districts while senior leaders will hold a series of workers and public meetings in every division in the months ahead, said senior leaders. The party has also decided not to launch any tough movement anytime soon as it prefers holding some issue-based programmes right now. About the date of the long march, a party standing committee member said that the date is yet to be finalised. He said the meeting also decided to announce BNP’s Dhaka city unit committee soon.
