BNP to hold mass sit-in in city

Wednesday, 9 June 2010

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will hold a four-hour mass sit-in in the capital today (Wednesday) from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.
BNP Chief Khaleda Zia will lead the sit-in on the premises of the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh, reports UNB.
The mass sit-in was called for protesting the government's interference with judiciary, appointment of inept and controversial judges and demanding to protect the dignity and freedom of the judiciary and ensuring justice to all.
The mass sit-in will be the first component of a three-day anti-government movement programme including June 27 countrywide dawn to dusk hartal called by Begum Zia from a rally on May 19.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan told the news agency that a large participation would take place in the mass sit-in as people from all walks of life support the initiative.
He said different political parties, professional groups and social and cultural organisations would formally express solidarity with the mass sit-in.
