Saturday, 27 January 2018

MADARIPUR, Jan 26 (BSS): Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said on Friday BNP will face public wrath, if it tries to carry out sabotage and arson attacks on innocent people again over the verdict in a graft case against the party's chairperson Khaleda Zia.
"If BNP carries out arson attacks or sabotage to kill people in the name of movement centeing the verdict in Zia Orphanage Trust Graft case, the people will resist the party's violent activities," he said while distributing stipends among meritorious students at Badamtala in the town.
The minister said the BNP leaders always say that they want rule of law but they cannot accept the law when it goes against them.
Shajahan said BNP carried out violence and killed innocent people in petrol bomb attacks centring the January 5, 2014 election but they could not thwart the democratic practice in the country.
If the party again tries to do that centring the verdict scheduled to be delivered on February 8 in the case, they will again fail to harm the democracy, he added.
Organised by Anuvab Multipurpose Cooperative Society, the function was attended by Madaripur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Wahidul Islam, Superintendent of Police Mohammed Sarwar Hossain, Society's President and former principal of Government Nazimuddin University College Hiten Chandra Mandal, former local municipality mayor Nur-e-Alam Babu Chowdhury, district Awami League General Secretary Kajal Krishna Dey, Sadar Upazila Chairman Pavelur Rahman Shafiq Khan and municipality mayor Khalid Hossain, among others.
