Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Tuesday said the nation need a government that will serve people in their desired way, and the BNP-led four-party alliance might take the opportunity again if people judiciously cast their vote for them, reports UNB from Comilla.
She urged people to remain alert, as conspiracy is still going on to foil the election, which is badly needed for the country to establish rule of law for the betterment of the nation.
Terming her political opponent Awami League's (AL) thoughts as backdated, she claimed that her party had started its work to transform the county to a 'Digital Bangladesh' and hoped to do it before 2021. She also referred to different development projects across the country during her tenure.
The BNP chairperson alleged that "Awami League is the other name of destruction, and the nation do not expect anything positive from that party which would not hesitate to kill people in the name of Logi-Boita movement."
Khaleda was addressing a public rally at Comilla Town Hall field Tuesday noon as part of her countrywide election tour to drum up support for BNP-Jamat led four-party candidates.
Four-party candidates from the constituencies - Comilla-3 : Haji Aminur Rashid Yasin, Comilla-5 : SM Alauddin Bhuiyan and Comilla-9 : Anwarul Azim were introduced to thousands of people.
While delivering her 25-minute speech, Khaleda Zia claimed that democratic system and human rights were grossly absent in the country over the last two years.
"Time has come to return to democracy… people are the actual power of the country and you must take the right decision in casting votes to ensure sustainable democracy in the country," Khaleda Zia said.
Alluding to her key political opponent, she said, "Sometimes we hear that we did nothing for the country and the people. Does it sound true?"
She said, "BNP is the most popular political platform in the country which played a vital role in implementing scores of development projects."
Khaleda said BNP became popular to countrymen by dint of its services to people, and it won four last general elections among five so far which is the clear evidence of its popularity.
She described Awami League as a "blind party as it does not see developments made by the BNP across the country. They (AL) deliver sweet words before assuming power, but they forget their pledges when assume power," she added.
