BNP trashes FM\\\'s military takeover allegation

BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has termed false and motivated the Foreign Minister's remark in the UK that Khaleda Zia wanted military takeover on January 5 to halt the parliamentary polls. 'The Foreign Minister, addressing a programme at the British House of Lords in London during his recent visit, said Begum Khaleda Zia wanted a military coup on January 5 to foil the national election,' he told a press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan in the city. Mirza Alamgir said: 'The Foreign Minister's such remark is false, fabricated and motivated.' The BNP spokesperson said Khaleda Zia had been on a movement to hold a free, fair and inclusive election on January 5. 'Our leader always fought for establishing democracy and people's basic rights and voting rights. The Foreign Minister (AH Mahmood Ali) made this false remark in London only to hush up the lopsided election,' he added. according to a news agency.
