The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Friday rubbished media reports claiming its chief Khaleda Zia met a group of government officials at her Gulshan office on Thursday. Several TV stations and web portals ran reports on Khaleda holding a meeting at her political office at Gulshan in the city on Thursday night. The media claimed that the government officials who called on the BNP Chairperson at her Gulshan office on Thursday night included incumbent and former public servants. The report also claimed that a group of public administration ministry officials were present during the meeting. Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir promptly issued a media release claiming the reports were false and baseless. ‘The reports [on the meeting] are false, fabricated and motivated. They aim at misleading the people,’ he said. The statement claimed the reports were ‘politically motivated’, according to a release.
