BNP undermines PMO: AL

The ruling Awami League (AL) alleged Sunday that the BNP undermined Prime Minister Office (PMO) as Sheikh Hasina was not allowed to meet and console BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia following her younger son's death, reports UNB.
"Their (BNP) Saturday's behaviour was devoid of political, social and religious etiquette. Their gesture was not only insolent with the Prime Minister but also discourteous for the office of the Prime Minister," said Awami League publicity and publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud.
The AL leader made the comments while addressing a press conference at the political office of its president at Dhanmondi in the city.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had been at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office Saturday night to console her after the premature death of Arafat Rahman Koko, but the Prime Minister could not meet her as Khaleda was said to be unwell.
Koko, the younger son of former president Ziaur Rahman and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, died of cardiac arrest in Malaysia Saturday at the age of 45.
Hasan Mahmud said: "Politics helps us to be decent, and people want to learn etiquette and values from politicians but not this type of rude behaviour."
The nation could expect nothing from those who suffer from unkindness and have no minimum good manners, he added.
