BNP unveils prog on Zia's 82nd birth anniv

BNP and its associate bodies have chalked a weeklong programme to observe the 82nd birth anniversary of its founder Ziaur Rahman in a befitting manner, reports UNB.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office on Monday, after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies.
The programme includes placing wreaths at Zia's grave, holding discussions, rallies, and essay competition, distribution of warm clothes and arranging free medical camp.
Born on January 19, 1936 at Bagbari in Bogra, Ziaur Rahman founded the party in 1978 and become the country's 7th president.
As part of the programme to mark the birth anniversary, Rizvi said his party will arrange a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the city on January 18.
Besides, the party flag will be hoisted atop all BNP offices across the country the following day.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia along with party leaders and activists will place wreaths at Zia's grave around 10:00 am the same day.
