BNP urges govt to go to court for resolving Khaleda's residence issue

Thursday, 16 April 2009

BNP Wednesday urged the government to go to court for resolving the issue of Khaleda Zia's cantonment residence saying that all would accept the court verdict whatever it is, reports UNB.
"Don't issue any threat to us - work with a cool head and as per law. If you try to forcibly grab Khaleda Zia's cantonment residence, we along with people will resist it," BNP secretary general Khondoker Delwar Hossain told a protest rally.
He warned that the government would have to shoulder the responsibility for any serious consequences following eviction of BNP chairperson Khaleda from her Shaheed Mainul Road residence in Dhaka cantonment. "We don't want to create any instable situation in the country. We want to solve the problem amicably," Delwar said.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the opposition BNP, organised the protest rally in front of its central office at Naya Palton to press the demand for immediately cancelling the cabinet decision scrapping the lease allocation of Khaleda's cantonment residence.
At the gathering, BNP and JCD leaders threatened to overthrow Hasina's government from power through a vigorous movement if it does not withdraw its 'illegal' decision.
JCD president Azizul Bari Helal who presided over the gathering announced its two-day fresh programmes, particularly against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 'fascist and vindictive' activities.
As part of the programmes, JCD will stage demonstrations and bring out processions at six divisional headquarters, including the capital city, on April 19. On April 21, similar progarmmes will be staged at all districts.
The BNP and JCD leaders who addressed the protest rally include Mirza Abbas, Amanullah Aman, Fazlul Huq Milon, Nazimuddin Alam, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Elias Ali, Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, Shirin Sultana, Shafiul Bari Babu, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Joyonto Kundu and Abdul Quader Bhuiyan.
