BNP vows to continue anti-govt movement

BNP vowed to continue its anti-government movement until a last man of the party remains free (not in prison), said Senior Joint Secretary General of the party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday.
"The government of Awami League again tries to hold the upcoming 12th national parliamentary elections unilaterally with an aim to hold on power, he said a statement issued on Friday.
"To fulfill this heinous target, they have started sending BNP leaders to prison," he added.
Calling the ruling Awami League regime 'fascist', he alleged that the government is indiscriminately arresting BNP leaders with an aim to make the party devoid of leadership.
He also condemned and protested arrest of the party's standing committee member Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury.
Mr Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury was arrested from his Gulshan residence at 1:00 am on Friday.
He said the government is further torturing arrested senior BNP leaders by taking them in 8-10 days' remand.
"The present ruling clique got afraid and lost their sense knowing about BNP's political programmes like hartal and blockade across the country," he said.
"The government thinks that they would be able to suppress BNP's ongoing movement by making arrests and taking on remand our party leaders. But we want to tell the government that the people of the country are with the BNP," he maintained.
"So, no tactics of the government aiming to stop BNP's movement would work and they (government) also would not succeed in attempt to weaken party's leadership. Our movement would continue even a last man of BNP remains free (not in prison)," he asserted.
He said that the people of the country are now united and they would be able to establish a neutral caretaker government for holding national elections by toppling the present government.
