BNP wanted anarchy on Jan 5: AL leaders

Tuesday, 6 January 2015

Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP, said Monday it has become clear from the remarks of BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman that BNP tried to create anarchy in the country on January 5, reports BSS.
"It has become crystal clear from Tarique Rahman's remarks in London that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia wanted to carry out subversive activities. It's her personal affair where she will go and when. But, it should be taken into consideration that there will be retaliation if anybody pelts bricks," he said.
Mr Nanak said this while talking to reporters at the political office of AL president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city.
Informing reporters that his party leaders and workers remained alert along with the law enforcers to ensure security to people's lives and properties, the AL leader said, "We are showing utmost restraint till now. We haven't taken law in our hands. We are vigilantly observing the situation as we have responsibilities too, to ensure security to people's lives and properties as the ruling party."
Mr Nanak said, "Police requested Begum Zia to return to her residence, but she didn't. For this reason, police have beefed up her security. Khaleda Zia will have to learn politics first. Otherwise, she will be finished staging dramas."
Another joint general secretary of AL Dr Dipu Moni, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Railway Minister Mujibul Huq and central working committee member Enamul Huq Shamim were present, among others.
Dhaka City AL general secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) said BNP can get permission to hold public rally if its chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman seek apology to the nation for their obnoxious remarks.
