BNP leader Rafiqul Islam Miah has warned the government of 'unimaginable consequences' if it tries to detain party chief Khaleda Zia.
He said at a discussion Friday, "The prime minister in a party meeting said that Khaleda Zia would be detained if there was any trouble, according to a news agency.
“Her threat amounts to interference in the affairs of an independent and neutral judiciary,” the member of the policymaking forum said.
“If (Sheikh Hasina) tried to abuse the power of judiciary and threatens to detain Khaleda Zia, then let us clearly state that any such act will have unimaginable consequences."
The discussion was also attended by BNP publicity secretary Joynal Abdin Farrouque and others.
