BNPPP meet tomorrow

Wednesday, 3 February 2010

A meeting of the BNP Parliamentary Party (BNPPP) will be held tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss joining the current session of Parliament.
Talking to UNB over phone Tuesday, opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farooque said that the meeting would be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 3pm at the Sangsad Bhaban.
BNP may join parliament tomorrow (Thursday) or Sunday to raise the crucial national issues, according to a front-ranking leader of BNP.
BNP and its allies, Jamaat and BJP, have been abstaining from Parliament after attending for about 23 days from the opening session that began on January 25 last year.
They have been abstaining from the House to press home their 11-point demand, including withdrawal of "false" cases against BNP leaders, especially Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her elder son Tarique Rahman.
Speaker Abdul Hamid, on completion of one year of parliament on January 25, said the opposition attended the House for 23 working days out of 95 days.
As per the Constitution, if any member abstains from the House for 90 consecutive days, he or she will lose membership of parliament.
