BNP's bid to form alliance before polls will yield no benefit: Hasan Mahmud

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Sunday BNP is trying to form a unity this time also. But this will yield no benefit, reports BSS.
He said BNP had formed an alliance and tried to form a coalition along with rightist, leftist, extreme rightist and extreme leftist before the 2018's polls. But, the result of the alliance is only five seats in the election," he added.
The minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters before addressing a meeting of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust (BJWT) at his ministry at Secretariat in the city.
The minister said BNP is not getting any issue to sustain in the field of politics.
"Now the party has been telling of toppling the government since 2009. People are laughing at them when they talk about movement," he added.
He said Awami League will achieve landslide victory in next general elections also.
Hasan Mahmud said the film industry started its journey in 1957 with the patronage of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced it as an industry undertaking many steps.
"The good days of films are back and the industry is turning around. The film industry will get back its golden days and capture a dignified position in the global screenland," he said.
Hasan said the government has formed a fund of Tk 10 billion to provide loan with low interest to construct and renovate halls and to contribute to welfare trust for film artistes and film city.
The FDC (Films Development Corporation) is celebrating the Film Day through a simple function for the holy Ramadan, he added.
The minister also said the prices of commodities have increased across the world including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Europe and the USA for Covid-19 and the war between Russia and Ukraine.
"The prices of import-based commodities have also increased in our country. The premier has provided family cards of TCB to 10 million families. For this, the prices of commodities including oil and onion have decreased," he added.
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Md Mokbul Hossain, BJWT Managing Director Subhash Chanda Badal, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) President Omar Faruque, Secretary General Dip Azad, Press Institute of Bangladesh Director General Zafar Wazed, and trust members were present at the meeting.
