BNP\\\'s half-day hartal observed in Bogra

BOGRA, Dec 20 (UNB) : The half-day hartal, enforced by the local unit BNP demanding the release of its five leaders whom a court sent to jail in a case for crude bomb blast in front of the district Awami League office, was observed peacefully in the district today (Saturday).  Picketing by the party activists was seen in different parts of the town in the morning.
Motorised vehicles stayed off the roads while shops remained closed.
However, no long-route buses left the district town.
The shutdown began at 6.00 am ended at 2.00pm.
No untoward incident was reported till filing of this report at 10:30am.
A large number of policemen remained deployed in the district to fend off any trouble.
