BNP's nomination process to start after Eid
Saturday, 27 September 2008
BNP chairperson's adviser Brig Gen (retd) Hannan Shah said Friday that the nomination process in BNP would start after the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, reports UNB.
Talking to the journalists at Hannan Shah's New DOHS apartment, he said a new office of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia would be set up after the Eid from where she would conduct party activities including the nomination process.
Shah said since the time for election is very short, political mass contact under the leadership of Khaleda Zia would start across the country after the Eid.
He said Khaleda Zia has already stated that BNP would participate in the elections provided election atmosphere prevails.
Replying to a question, the BNP leader said those who had committed corruption, amassed black money and undermined the image of the party and the chairperson would not get party nominations. This is also the expectation of grassroots BNP workers.
Shah said although no action was taken in the past against the corrupt persons in BNP action would now be taken against them as per the party constitution.
He said two leaders-Khaleda and Hasina-should sit together for greater interest of the nation to bring about qualitative change in politics and future governance.
The proposed meeting would also cast positive impact on the result of the December parliamentary polls, he added.
