BOC AGM approves 77pc final dividend

The 37th annual general meeting (AGM) of BOC Bangladesh Limited has approved 77 per cent final dividend for the year that ended on December 31, '09.
The AGM was held in the city Thursday. Chairman of the company M Syeduzzaman presided over the meeting, said a press release.
With the approval of the final dividend, the total dividend reached to 177 per cent as the company earlier paid 100 per cent dividend to its shareholders.
A large number of shareholders attended the AGM.
In his presidential address, the chairman stated that the company posted earnings of Tk 609.87 million against Tk 359.34 million in 2008 registering 69.70 per cent increase.
He pointed out that substantial benefit was received from the sale of lease interest in land and interest income. The annual turnover growth was 9.77 per cent, he added.
The chairman lauded the sound policies of the government particularly in the arena of monetary policy and the foresight and resilience of the local entrepreneurs, which helped to steer the country from a crisis that seemed imminent in the wake of global crisis.
At the AGM, Mr Sanjiv Lamba, Mr Lee Bon Hian and Mr Erphan Shehabul Matin retired by rotation as per Article No. 81 of the Articles of Association and were re?elected as directors of the company, the release added.
