Body formed to review proposals of 40 ministries

The government has formed a committee to scrutinise and review gender budget proposals of 40 ministries put forth for the next fiscal year (FY), officials said.
The committee consists of eight members with Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Md Muslim Chowdhury as its president.
The committee will examine the gender budget proposals received from 40 ministries. Removing information mistakes and editing the received proposals will be done by the committee. The committee will also scrutinise and edit the success stories of different ministries. Officials of some 26 budget wings of the MoF will be involved in the process.
The government has allocated Tk 667 billion (66,739 crore) as gender budget for the current FY.
The gender budget allocation for next FY would be fixed after examining the proposals of different ministries, a high official of the MoF said.
The gender budget was not a separate one. It was mainly a part of the national budget, he added.
