Body of accused found hrs after four-murder

MYMENSINGH, July 4 (UNB): Police recovered the body of a man, accused of killing a man and three sons in Nandail Upazila under Mymensingh on Friday night, from near a pond in Bashati village of the upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Jamal Hossain (22), son of Lal Miah of the village.
Syed Abdullah, officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station, said local people spotted Jamal's body lying near the pond around 7:00 am and informed the police.
The police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue.
The body bore several injury marks, said the OC.
The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.
Police also arrested one Khokon Miah (30), in connection with the four-murder incident.
Earlier, the man and his three sons were killed allegedly by his brother and his men over a land-related dispute in the Bashati village on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Belal Uddin, (50), and his three sons, Farid (25), Himel (14) and Pavel (10).
Officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station Syed Abdullah said the two brothers-Belal and Lal Miah-had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land.
On Friday Lal Miah along with his associates attacked Belal and hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
They also hacked Belal's three sons-Farid, Pavel and Himel-as they tried to save their father.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.
