FE Report
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Ramna police station was found dead at Chharpara of Mirzapur in Tangail Tuesday.
Mirzapur police said they recovered the body of Shah Mizanur Rahman (35) from beside the Dhaka-Tangail Highway at about 7:30am. "Mizan was identified with the identity cards we found from his pocket," Officer-in-Charge of the police station Habibullah Sarker said.
He suspected that Mizan, who hailed from Madhupur of Tangail, might have been strangled to death as several injury marks were found in the body and its neck was tied up with a towel.
The body was sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge of Ramna thana, Shibli Noman said the ASI had been on duty at Nayatola police post in the city until 5:30am.
He deposited his firearms and ammunition at Madhubagh police outpost and told his colleagues that he was going to toilet. Since then Mizan was missing.
"Nobody knows why he went to Tangail. We're investigating the matter. And I hope we can detect the reasons behind the killing," he added.
However, the police are yet to arrest anyone in connection with the murder.
