Body to mediate between AL, BNP suggested

Speakers at a discussion Saturday called for an end to the ongoing violence, saying that the political parties should sit in dialogue immediately to resolve the present political crisis.
They suggested forming a six-member committee to communicate with the two major political parties either directly or indirectly aiming to pave the way for dialogue.
President Abdul Hamid can take an initiative for resolving the political crisis, they said at the roundtable discussion titled "national dialogue for resolving national crisis" held at the auditorium of Engineers Institution in the city.
Engineer Habib Ullah moderated the programme.
Former Chief Election Commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda said dialogue should not take place only between the two main political parties rather it should be with all parties.  "We should formulate national programme. It will not be only for change of power from one party to another," he added.
Former adviser of the caretaker government Dr Akbar Ali Khan said, "I am hopeful that the ongoing political crisis would be resolved soon." Founder Secretary of Sujan (Citizens for Good Governance) Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar suggested forming a six-member committee to communicate with the two main political parties directly or indirectly for initiating dialogue.
Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain said 160 million people are the owner of the country. No party or person is the owner of the country. He suggested dialogue immediately for resolving the ongoing political impasse.  Convener of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna said it is the government's  duty to initiate dialogue. President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Abdur Rab and Mostafa Mohsin Montu of Gono Forum, and former vice-president of DUCSU Sultan Mohammad Mansur, among others, were present.       talhabinhabib@yahoo.com
