CHITTAGONG, Aug 17 (UNB): The authority of Chittagong University today (Sunday) formed a four-member committee to investigate Saturday's clash between Islamic Chhatra Shibir (ICS) and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus that left 10 students, including a Shibir leader, injured.

The committee, headed by Prof Abdus Salam, has been asked to submit its report within three days.

The ICS activists clashed with the BCL on the campus as the rival groups announced two separate programmes at the same venue the same time.

The violence left Shibir general secretary Arif Maenuddin and nine other activists from both sides injured.

When contacted, CU Vice-chancellor M Bodiul Alam told the news agency today over telephone that security would be beefed up on the campus when the class resumes tomorrow (Monday) after Sunday's holiday.
