Body to probe irregularities by bank executives

Amid growing irregularities in the banking sector, Bangladesh Bank formed a four-member committee to investigate alleged irregularities by the chief executives of commercial banks and recommend punitive actions against those to be found guilty.
The committee has been formed with central bank deputy governor Nazneen Sultana as its head, BB general manager AFM Asaduzzaman told UNB over phone Sunday.
He said BB governor Dr Atiur Rahman approved the committee formation Sunday.
The other members of the body are-- BB executive directors M Ahsan Ullah, Ahmed Jamal and general manager of the Banking Regulation and Policy Department (BRPD).  The fourth member will act as the member secretary.
