Bogura, Gopalganj observe day for disaster reduction

BOGURA, Oct 13: International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction was observed in the district in a befitting manner.
Marking the day, Bogura District Administration arranged a procession.
Deputy Commissioner Foyez Ahmed led the procession which started from the DC office and marched the city's main roads.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Ujjal Kumar Ghosh and Sadar upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizur Rahman took part in the procession, among others.
Fayez Ahmed said Bangladesh is a role model in dealing with disasters. The current government is working to reduce the loss of lives and resources of people in disasters.
He laid emphasis on raising awareness among the common people about the early preparation for disaster to reduce the loss of resources.
Our Gopalganj Correspondent writes: The International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction was observed in a befitting manner in Gopalganj on Sunday. The theme of the day was "By following the rules, we build infrastructure, reduce the risk of life and property."
District Administration, Gopalganj, organised the programme. On the occasion of the day, they brought out a colourful procession. The procession paraded main roads in the city.
Rally over, a discussion meeting was held at Gopalganj Poura Park Ground in Gopalganj City.
Shahida Sultana, deputy commissioner (DC) of Gopalganj presided over the meeting.
Earlier, Fire Service and Civil Defence, Gopalganj and Tungipara units jointly arranged a demonstration on how to prepare for earthquakes and fire disasters at Gopalganj Poura Park ground in the town.
