Bomb blast leaves 1 dead in Jessore

A man was killed as a powerful bomb exploded while he was carrying it at Hamidpur village in Jessore Sadar upazila on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Firoz Hossain, 26, son of late Idris Ali of the village. Police suspected that he was carrying the bomb for taking preparation to carry out subversive activities in the area. Officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Model Police Station Akkas Ali said the bomb was in possession of Firoz when it exploded at about 12:30am, leaving him injured. He was rescued and rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead. Firoz was wanted in several cases, the OC said. Police arrested one of his associates in connection with the bomb explosion. A case was filed, according to a news agency.
