Monday, 25 April 2011

Bomb panic gripped the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following a phone call from an unidentified caller Sunday morning, reports bdnews24.com. The police, however, found no bomb on the DMCH compound. Shahbagh police chief Rezaul Karim told the news agency panic had run high after the on-duty telephone operator at the DMCH telephone exchange had received the phone call around 8:30am. "A bomb has been planted at the operation theatre of the hospital and it may blast any time," the unidentified caller was quoted as saying. Informed, a bomb squad of the Detective Branch rushed to the spot and found no bomb or explosives in the DMCH operation theatre and the surrounding areas, said the police official. Someone had made the phone call to create panic, he suspected.
