FE Report | Friday, 5 September 2014
A four-day bonsai fair begins in the city's Women Volunteers' Association today (Friday) with the exhibition of around 500 different local timber plants in the Japanese art form.
The Bangladesh Bonsai Society (BBS) has organised the 16th fair to promote the miniature form trees grown in small attractive containers in the country.
Famous writer Anisul Hoque will inaugurate the fair where fine art critic Mutlub Ali will be present as special guest.
Nazma Shafique, President of the BBS, said the exhibition will enable the bonsai lovers to see the growth of the Japanese art in the country and its varieties being popular with local timbers.
She said many local varieties like tamarind, Jilepi, box wood, kamini, banyan, chandan etc., are likely to be on the display during the exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open from 10am to 8pm everyday except the inaugural day.
