Boosting revenue generation for national uplift stressed

RANGPUR, Sept 15 (BSS): There is no alternative to enhance revenue generation in increasing internal resources for national uplift.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga said this while speaking at a discussion as the chief guest arranged to distribute crests among the best 35 tax payers of Rangpur division marking the National Income Tax Day-2014 here today.
"All eligible citizens must be brought under income tax collection system for advancing Bangladesh towards development through implementing massive development programmes of the government utilising local resources and reducing reliance on foreign aid," he said.
The state minister also stressed for increasing internal revenue generation for accelerating national development and urged the citizens to pay income taxes spontaneously under the present socioeconomic status to reduce dependence on foreign assistance and loans.
Earlier, the state minister led a procession participated by hundreds of people, including government and NGO officials and employees, students, teachers, civil society members, business community leaders, socio-cultural activists, professionals and elite of the city.
Panel Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Abul Kashem attended the discussion as the special guest with Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Animesh Roy in the chair.
Among others, Member (Legal and Enforcement) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Kalipado Halder, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht and President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu spoke at the discussion.
