Touring Bangladesh National Football team earned an inspiring 1-0 goal victory over strong Nepal Police team at the Police ground in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu Saturday in the lone warm-up match aboard ahead of the AFC Challenge Cup, reports UNB.
Meritorious national medio Arman Aziz scored the match-winning goal in the 19th minute by a free kick to uphold the morale of Bangladesh team ahead of the four-team Group A matches of the AFC Challenge Cup qualifier beginning in Dhaka on April 26.
Bangladesh, which was placed in Group A with Myanmar, Cambodia and Macau, will play Cambodia on April 26, Myanmar on April 28, Macau on April 30, all at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
In the day's match, Bangladesh national team played with 4-2-3-1 format, but failed to perform their usual skill due to uneven field and small size of ground, according to a message received from Kathmandu Saturday evening.
The match was also delayed by 45 minutes due to late arrival of the Nepal Police team.
Earlier, a 20-member national football team, led by skipper-cum-custodian Aminul Haque, reached Kathmandu Thursday afternoon to play an warm-up match there. But the Nepal Football Association failed to accommodate the match at the major football venue --Dashrath Stadium.
