Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive losses in the five-nation 13th Nehru Cup Football tournament conceding a 0-1 goal defeat against hosts India at the floodlit Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi Monday, reports UNB.
Indian wonder boy Baichung Bhutia scored the match-winning goal in the fifth minute of the match by placing shot from difficult angle that kissed the Bangladesh net hitting the side bar (1-0).
Bangladesh custodian Biplob displayed his brilliance under the bar foiling a series of opponent attacks one after another restricting hosts India to satisfy with a 1-0 victory.
After the day's match, India brightened their chance to reach the final of the traditional soccer meet after an empathic 6-0 goal victory over Cambodia in the opening match.
Bangladesh are virtually out from the title race conceding two successive defeats. They lost 0-2 goals to top ranking Syria in the first appearance Saturday.
In the remaining league basis matches, Bangladesh will play Cambodia on August 22 and Kyrgystan on August 24, all at 7:30pm (Bangladesh time).
Indian satellite TV channel Zee Sports telecast the day's tense packed match live like the other matches of the tournament that began Friday in New Delhi.
