Boro cultivation exceeds target in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Mar 31: Boro cultivation has exceeded its target in the district.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said over 135102 hectares of land were cultivated this year against the target of 128180 hectares in 9 upazilas of the district.
Hybrid boro was cultivated on 19080 hectares, Ufshee on 1,06,600 hectares and local variety of boro was cultivated on 2,500 hectares of land.
DAE Deputy Director Md Hasibur Rahman said the government provided farmers with necessary fertilisers, quality seeds, technical assistance and other agriculture inputs to achieve the production target this season.
Among the upzilas, boro was cultivated in 17845 hectares of land in Sadar Upazila, 14655 hectares in Kazipur, 17540 hectares in Belkuchi, 18320 hectares in Tarash, 17520 hectares in Raiganj, 19600 hectares in Ullapara, 20323 hectares in Shahazadpur, 7640 hectares in Kamarkhanda and 6620 hectares of land in Chouhaly upzilas in the district.
