Boro cultivation going on in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Feb 26 (BSS): Transplantation of Boro cultivation is going on in full sewing in all five upazilas of the district amid enthusiasm among the farmers.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said 35,000 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in the district with the production target of 2,79,000 tonnes of rice. Of the total, 24,500 hectares have been brought under High Yielding Variety (HYV) and 10,500 hectares under Hybrid variety.
Deputy Director of DAE M Nazrul Islam said there is no shortage of Boro seedlings in the district. Farmers of the district have already cultivated 70 per cent of the targeted land and cultivation will continue up to the first week of March, he added.
