Boro cultivation starts in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Jan 21: Cultivation of Boro paddy has just started across six upazilas in Nilphamari district.
DAE sources said this year's target of Boro cultivation in the district is in 79443 hectares of land to produce 329671 MT of paddy, out of which hybrid to be cultivated in 26710 hectares to produce 126015 MT and Upshi in 52733 hectares to produce 203656 MT of paddy.
Sources said till date there is no shortage of the availability of inputs including chemical fertilisers such as urea, phosphate, potash and so on. Electricity supply in irrigation is also normal, there is no shortage of diesel for running the deep and shallow tubewells as well. The climate is also favourable and there is no shortage of labour also.
Seeds in most of the seedbeds has grown as expected which the growers are plucking to plant in the farmland.
