Boro farming in Tangail goes on in full swing

TANGAIL, Jan 29: The cultivation of transplanted Boro paddy has begun in full swing in 12 upazilas of the district.
At present farmers of the district are passing their busy time with Boro cultivation. They are happy over easy availability of Boro plants, fertilisers and other agri inputs and the climate is also favourable at the moment.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Tangail sources said, a total of 165929 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation with a production target of 641210 metric tonnes paddy this year, out of which hybrid variety is on 2421 hectares of land to produce 11422 metric tonnes of paddy, upshi on 162566 hectares of land to produce 623833 metric tonnes of paddy and the local variety on 942 hectares of land to produce 1955 metric tonnes of paddy.
Azizullah, deputy director of DAE Tangail said, to make the Boro cultivation target a success, field officers and other agriculture-related officers will assist farmers in every relevant way.
Bangladesh Krishi Bank and other government and non-government organisation provided short term loan among the farmers.
