Boro growers suffer as paddy price goes down in Tangail

TANGAIL, May 27: The farmers of the district are suffering as paddy price has gone down in the district markets this year.
While visiting the different markets of the district the FE found that the Boro paddy is being sold at Tk 500 to Tk 600 per mound. The price of every variety of paddy is low in the local market.
The paddy growers are struggling to recover their cultivation cost, sources said.
Ramjan Ali, son of Intaj Ali of village Mamudpur under Delduar upazila said, in this year farmers of the area will not be able to recover their cultivation cost of Boro paddy.
Hyder Miah, a paddy wholesaler said, from the beginning of Boro harvesting the price of paddy was low in local markets, now in the harvesting time it came down further.
