Boro paddy procurement drive begins in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, May 24 (BSS): Boro paddy and rice procurement drive started here today under the auspices of Netrakona district food department. Deputy commissioner (DC) Netrakona Dr. Torun Kanti Shikder formally inaugurated the drive by purchasing 40 tonnes of Boro rice from two rice mills owners at Netrakona sadar government food warehouse.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the DC said the Boro paddy and rice procurement drive was launched here today by opening eleven purchasing centers in the district, which is popularly known as "grain bowel" of the country, following the instructions of the government to ensure fair prices of paddy and rice.
