Boro procurement drive continues in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, JUNE 30 (BSS): Boro rice procurement drive of Food Department has been continuing in the district since May amid much enthusiasm to the millers and the officials.
Office sources said the government has fixed a target to procure a total of 21,616 tonnes of boiled rice and 3,200 tonnes of Atap rice from the millers through 11 purchasing centers of all the seven upazilas in the district during the current Boro season.
Price of per kg of boiled rice and Atap rice has also been fixed at Tk 38 and Tk 37 respectively, the sources said.
To make the Boro rice procurement drive a grand success, the department of food has also performed their agreement with 487 millers of the district.
Of the total, 14,088 tonnes of boiled rice and 1,900 tonnes of Atap rice had already been purchased from the millers, said an official of the Food Department.
M Amzad Hossain, district controller of food, said the rice procurement target must be achieved easily as it would continue in the district till August, 2018.
