Boro procurement going on smoothly in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, June 12: Rice and paddy procurement drive of current Boro season that started on 20 May last in the district would continue up to 31 August.
This year's Boro procurement target in the district was 22,916 tonnes of rice and 2,637 tonnes of paddy.
Rice will be procured from the husky mill owners of the district while paddy from the farmers directly.
Md Moin Uddin, district controller of Food, Nilphamari said out of 550 husky mills of the district, 533 mill owners have signed contract with the food office to supply 18,015 tonnes of rice, but 2,898 tonnes of rice have been procured so far.
He also said that 139 tonnes of paddy were directly procured from the farmers of the district. This year's procurement price of rice was fixed at Tk 24.50 to Tk 25.50 per kg while that of paddy was Tk 16.00 to Tk 17.00 per kg.
