Botswana minister Makgalemele arrives today

Dikgang Phillip Makgalemele, Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration of Botswana, arrived in Dhaka today on a 2-day visit to explore prospective areas of cooperation with Bangladesh. This is the 1st minister-level visit from the Southern African country in Bangladesh, an official at the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday morning. Makgalemele who is leading a 3-member delegation, will meet Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali in the afternoon. He will also meet Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury and leaders of the apparel makers during his visit. Botswana has already shown interest in having ideas about Bangladesh’s success in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, knitwear and readymade garment industry. The ministries concerned will present a documentary on their respective ministries’ successes for the Botswana delegation. The foreign ministry official said Makgalemele will have discussions with the ministry concerned on recruiting skilled manpower from Bangladesh, according to a news agency.
