Local boutique shops and fashion houses have increased collection of coloured and designed clothes and accessories to woo shoppers, ready to splurge on Eid dresses.
About 4,500 fashion makers in the country are passing busy time to put the best collection to draw the attention of fashion-lovers during the largest religious festival of the Muslims.
Businesses have taken adequate preparations for this year's Eid sales as they want to benefit from a stable political environment, said Shaheen Ahmed, a vice president of Fashion Oddoug, an association of fashion house owners.
He said that sales were sluggish during the last Pahela Baishakh festival due to political turmoil.
"So, they are trying to recoup the losses with a good sale this time. I hope all fashion houses will get better sales," he said.
Mr Ahmed, also chief executive Officer (CEO) of fashion firm Anjans, said that all outlets of the fashion house have displayed a wide array of gent's and ladies wears.
Embroidery, block, screen print, hand work have been applied to the Anjans shalwar-kameez, sarees, fatua, panjabi and kids items.
Prices of shalwar-kameez vary from Tk 2,000-10,000, sarees from Tk 700- 12,000, panjabi from Tk 700-5,000 and kids items Tk 300-3,000 for each depending on fabric and design.
Anjans CEO also said sales will pick up from coming Friday-or on the eighth day of Ramadan.
As before, Aarong has brought out a big collection since Eid ul-Fitr is the best-selling season for the Brac-owned fashion house and handicraft maker, said Sahanaz Parveen, manager (export) of the firm.
She said all kinds of dresses have good sales at Aarong ahead of the festival and they have displayed the wears, ornaments, home décor, considering the latest fashion and trend.
But the top-selling item is panjabi at the handicraft and fashion house, she said.
"We have brought slim fit panjabi for young customers and regular for people of all ages," said Ms Parveen. Besides, fautua, short kurta have a big collection at Aarong.
Long, semi-long, straight-cut, Anarkoli-cut kamiz with churidar, plazzu, normal shalwar have been brought this year.
Different types of fabric have been used for dresses and sarees like maslin, slik etc. As the weather is hot, Aarong also used different kinds of cotton fabric to give comfort to the people.
Besides the regular priced wears, customers will be able to buy excusive Jamdani saree, whose price may go upto 100,000, exclusive lady's wear from Tk 14000 to 20,000. In case of kid's items, the price ranges from Tk 250 to Tk 3,000.
Annamela has put emphasis on kids wears for this year Eid festival, said Delwar Hossain, manager of the fashion outlet.
He said they are getting good response from customers, mainly for baby wears. On the first 10 days of Ramadan, people mainly buy kids dresses, he said.
They also brought out new collection of other dresses at reasonable price.
Sales usually at the Deshi Dosh, the local boutique shops zone at Bashundhara City, remain high during every festival.
Owners are expecting to witness a higher flow of customers this year too.
Although imported wears like Indian, Pakistani and Chinese dresses have demand on the occasion, people like mostly local dresses to celebrate such festival, said sector insiders.
Following trendy design and quality fabric, sales of locally made clothing are higher than those of foreign ones on every national and religious occasion, they note.
