Boy drowns in pond

A boy drowned in a pond at Borodaho village in Shailakupa upazila in Jhenidah on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Nayan Hossain, 8, son of Sekandar Ali of the village. Locals said Nayan slipped into the pond in the afternoon when he was playing on its bank. Later, family members rescued his body from the pond after frantic searches. Officer-in charge of Shailakupa Police Station M Hasem Khan confirmed the incident, according to a news agency.
