Boy drowns in river

A boy drowned in the Dakatia River in London Ghat area in Chandpur town on Thursday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hasan, 16, son of Nuruzzaman, a resident of Begum Masjid area of the district town. The deceased’s family members said Rakibul slipped into the river and drowned in the afternoon while taking bath as he did not know how to swim. Informed, a fire fighting unit came in and rescued Rakibul after two hours of frantic search. He was pronounced dead after he was taken to the Chandpur 250-bed General Hospital, according to UNB.
