BR to recruit 16,000 staff

The Bangladesh Railway (BR) will appoint nearly 16,000 staff to its various posts this year, said BR Director General Tofazzel Hossain on Tuesday. “The process for the recruitment is on. We’ll start recruiting on completion of the process,” he told reporters at Railway Bhaban in the capital. “The railway is currently facing a severe manpower crisis. The DG said the Dhaka-Tongi rail line will be upgraded to a four-track one from the existing two-lane one soon which will help cut the travel time of passengers, he added, according to a news agency.
