BR to remodel Khulna railway station soon

Bangladesh Railway (BR) has taken a project for remodeling Khulna Railway station, yard and development of operational facilities of Benapole railway station aimed at providing better services to the passengers, reports BSS.
"The project for remodeling Khulna Railway station and yard and development of operational facilities of Benapole railway station was approved by the ECNEC," railway's chief planning officer M Monzurul Islam told the news agency on Sunday.
He said the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the revised detail project proposal (DPP) with Tk 0.75 billion on January 26, as the cost has increased.
"The main objective of the project is to renovate Khulna Railway Station Buildings and other ancillary structures and also to rehabilitate Benapole Railway stations with modern interchange facilities," he said.
Chief Engineer (West) BR and Project Director Rafiqul Alam said the tender for the project would be floated this month and the total cost of the project will be borne from the national exchequer.
