BRAC Bank arranges Tk 500m syndicated loan for BURO

BRAC Bank Limited has arranged a syndicated term loan worth Tk 500 million (50 crore) for the Basic Unit for Resources and Opportunities of Bangladesh (BURO Bangladesh), a microfinance institution of the country.
An agreement in this connection was signed between BURO Bangladesh and the participating lenders led by BRAC Bank Ltd in the city Thursday.
The participating lender banks under the lead arranger BRAC Bank Limited are AB Bank Ltd, Bank Alfalah Ltd, Mercantile Bank Ltd, One Bank Ltd, Prime Bank Ltd, Pubali Bank Ltd, Trust Bank Ltd, and United Commercial Bank Ltd.
Zakir Hossain, executive director of BURO Bangladesh, and Imran Rahman, managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank Limited, Khadim Hussain, country credit head of Bank Alfalah Limited, Kaiser A Chowdhury, president and managing director of AB Bank Limited, Dewan Mujibur Rahman, managing director and CEO of Mercantile Bank Limited, Farman Rahman, managing director of ONE Bank Limited, Mehmud Hossain, executive vice president of Prime Bank Ltd, M Mustafizur Rahman, general manager of Pubali Bank Ltd, Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury, deputy managing director of Trust
Bank Limited, and A K M Kamal Uddin, deputy managing director of United
Commercial Bank Limited, inked the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
The banks have sanctioned this syndicated term loan for five years to support microfinace activities and countrywide expansion of BURO Bangladesh.
One of the country's leading microfinance institutions, BURO Bangladesh is running its activities in 42 districts in the country with 256 unit offices starting operation in 1990.
Kaiser Tamiz Amin, deputy managing director of BRAC Bank Ltd, Khwaja Shahriar, head of corporate banking of BRAC Bank Ltd, Mosharrof Hossain, finance director of BURO Bangladesh, among other senior officials from the organisations, were also present at the signing ceremony.
