BRAC disburses Tk 1.29b micro-credit

RAJSHAHI, Jun 23 (BSS): BRAC, a leading NGO of the country, disbursed micro-credit of over Tk 1.29 billion (129 crore) under the poverty alleviation and rural women empowerment programmes in the district in five months till May this year.
The loans were distributed among 4491 organisations comprising 0.15 million primary members under three separate components like demand, growth and progress.
BRAC district unit officials said this while addressing a view-exchange meeting with journalists on presentation of annual activities report at a city restaurant Saturday.
BRAC Media Manager Zia Hassan, Regional Manager Mahbubul Islam, area managers Goutam Sarker and Suresh Chandra Roy and District Education Manager Sazedul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion.
