BRAC disburses Tk 436.3m loans in B'baria in 6 months

BRAHMANBARIA, July 13: Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) disbursed Tk 436.3 million (43.63 crore) loans among the poor farmers through its twenty-three offices in the district during January to June this year.
BRAC also registered 79,000 borrowers in the district during the period, sources said.
The loans have been given for poverty alleviation, so that the farmers can implement various projects like cattle rearing, pisciculture, crop cultivation, etc.
The farmers can invest the borrowed money in establishing various small and medium enterprises (SME) to improve their socio-economic condition, the sources added.
